BASE

USING BASE AND THE CORE LISTS

We suggest that you use the two bibliographies listed here (List One and List Two) to develop your materials collection to aid Arkansas history instruction. Think of these lists as the priority in which you should acquire titles, either through purchase as part of your normal library order or from selection from the BASE inventory. “List One” should be your top priority with “List Two” being the next group of titles to acquire. Many of the titles on these lists you may already have in your library.

While any title in BASE is a useful addition, books on these two lists represent "the best of the best" and would provide a solid foundation for your Arkansas collection. The primary focus of these lists is Arkansas history, but significant works by noted writers from Arkansas, both fiction and non-fiction, are also included.

Some recommended titles we may not have in the BASE inventory when you are reviewing it, though we will try to purchase as many titles in multiple copies as we can with monetary donations received and thanks to the Arkansas Legislature's appropriation in support of BASE and its goals. We add to the BASE inventory throughout the year through donated books and through purchase. Our primary book order each year is placed during the summer as our BASE "season" is geared to the school year.
